Why Giving Your Business a Health Check Matters

As business owners, we can often get stuck in the day-to-day running of our business and fail to take the time to step back and evaluate how we are doing so far with a business health check. But taking time out from our busy schedules to reflect on what we’ve been achieving, look at how we can improve and reflect on where we want to go next gives us an opportunity to nurture ourselves as well as our business – something that is too often overlooked by entrepreneurs, in my experience. The best part? It only takes one day, or even one hour, if you’re really pushed for time.

What Is a Business Health Check?

A business health check is a review of your current business performance and plans for future growth. It’s an opportunity to make sure that you are doing all you can to be successful in your business, from increasing revenue streams to launching new products.

Find the Places in your Business That Need a Health Check

Look at your business plan and assess whether it’s still relevant. Have you met or exceeded any of your goals? Are there any gaps that need to be addressed or new goals that need to be set? Consider taking another look at your products or services and make sure they are still suitable for your customer. Look at how marketing is going, is it bringing in enough customers, are you still on track with any plans you have in place?

What To Consider When Running the Business Health Check

Think about what your business is and what you want it to be, how it will develop over time. Think about where you are now, how your team is functioning, how your market is changing and evolving. Consider where you’d like to be in 12 months time.

Create momentum to generate new clients at your spa

There are many different ways you can drum up new business. For example, you could send out mass invitations on social media asking people to book a free treatment with you, or perhaps offer some kind of incentive for booking early. This sort of approach will only work for small spas that don’t have an established client base, so it isn’t recommended for anyone already running a busy establishment.

Small Actions Bring Big Results

Though we all want to achieve that big goal right away, don’t lose sight of how important it is to take consistent small actions. By creating a daily plan that brings you closer to your goal, you’ll find yourself achieving it faster than expected. Staying on track and continuously moving towards your goals helps you make big progress.

Take Decisive Action

There’s nothing worse than being indecisive. Whether you have an idea or you need to react to something, it’s important that you take action quickly. That doesn’t mean make rash decisions; rather, it means choosing a course of action and then executing with speed. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that someone else will swoop in and beat you to your goal—or deal with whatever problem you are trying to solve.
